If you are planning a visit to the Great Yorkshire Show in 2015, make sure you come along to the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths marquee where Annabelle Bradley will be demonstrating blacksmithing as well as running short taster courses on Tuesday 14th July, Wednesday 15th July and Thursday 16th July.
New to the 2015 Grassington festival, blacksmithing taster sessions will be held at the Malham Smithy.
Suitable for beginners with no previous experience, the morning or afternoon sessions focus on learning the key basic techniques that are the foundation to all blacksmiths forge work, from simple hooks to elaborate sculptures. After a brief demonstration you will have a go at forging with hammer and anvil. You will be guided to use the hand tools safely and incorporate design elements into practical forge work.
Working in pairs, your group of 4 will practice striking and blacksmithing. At the end of your session you will take away a piece of your own hand crafted forgework!
Booking essential and can be made directly with the Grassington Festival booking office http://www.grassington-festival.org.uk/tickets/

Annabelle Bradley’s signature hand forged Rams Heads feature on many items at the Malham Smithy. From fireside tools, curtain pole finials and bottle openers, or even just a decorative rams head paperweight.
The familiar ring of the anvil echoes through the village as the Blacksmith works on the forge.
