Malham Smithy joins the Grassington Festival events

??????????????????New to the 2015 Grassington festival, blacksmithing taster sessions will be held at the Malham Smithy.

Suitable for beginners with no previous experience, the morning or afternoon sessions focus on learning the key basic techniques that are the foundation to all blacksmiths forge work, from simple hooks to elaborate sculptures. After a brief demonstration you will have a go at forging with hammer and anvil. You will be guided to use the hand tools safely and incorporate design elements into practical forge work.
Working in pairs, your group of 4 will practice striking and blacksmithing. At the end of your session you will take away a piece of your own hand crafted forgework!

Booking essential and can be made directly with the Grassington Festival booking office http://www.grassington-festival.org.uk/tickets/

This is a short, group taster session as part of the Grassington Festival workshops. Session times are 10am to 1pm or 2pm to 5pm on Wednesday 17th June. Numbers are limited to 4 people per session.
